We all have some “crap” with us, past experiences that were not always nice or living with beliefs that are putting ourselves down like “ I am not good enough”, or “ I am not being smart enough”, “ I cannot do that”, I find it amazing the number of limiting beliefs we throw out over ourselves that are putting us down and they are so ingrained in us. The only effect they have is a lower self-esteem, lower self confidence, less happiness and less success in life. Time for change
According to research more than 90 percent of girls – 15 to 17 years – want to change at least one aspect of their physical appearance, with body weight ranking the highest.
In the adult phase it is even more shocking 97% of woman will be cruel about their bodies.
The results of the limiting beliefs and putting yourself down are shocking
75 percent of girls with low self-esteem reported engaging in negative and potentially harmful activities, such as disordered eating, cutting, bullying, smoking or drinking, when feeling badly about themselves -- compared with 25 percent of girls with high self-esteem.
And although these numbers are from woman, we man also have these negative self talk and lower self esteem as a result and the numbers are growing in this digital age.
When we translate this to the work environment the stats are also not really to be happy about.
In companies it also shows that living believes, negative self talk resulting in lower competence based self-esteem (Johnson and Blom 2007) has major impact on profit of companies, (figures in this are from 5 - 35 % less profit) with as contributors to this decrease of profit are: “increased sickness leave to missing changes in R&D, Sales, and Competition.”
Also for the employee these limiting believes have major impact on his or her career , most of the times they result in less career changes, not being selected for special projects, and a lower engagement based on not utilising his/her full potential in that company.
Luckily everything we learned is also unlearnable, the popular rewire your brain is really true the crux is how to do that?
Advices form do not think about it, say to yourself positive affirmations, act as if you can , find your power pose, Channel Your Heroes, are the popular advices and although they work they are extremely hard to implement.
Why are they so hard to implement? The negative self talk, limiting beliefs are habitual implanted in our brain and are habits.
And the subconscious mind is 10.000 times stronger than the conscious mind, so doing our best consciously to change a habit is like keeping your eyes open and resist to blink, just try it,
Tools from NLP, Constellations, and Hypnotherapy are much more successful in achieving that change. The reason if done properly you by-bass the hurdles of rejection and work right away with the subconscious mind and yes even in an eye open state, by creating an extreme identification with the limiting beliefs/habits so we are able to break it or to say more nicely interrupt it and instal solutions.
James shares how he deleted some of his “crap” and what this does for his future outlook.
Happy to hear this, so amazing we can delete the “crap”.
